Creating Opportunities to Expand Gender Inclusion at your Library
Tuesday April 22, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am CDT
Madison Public Library is committed to providing safe and welcoming spaces and equitable access to materials and services for all members of our community. As part of that commitment we strive to ensure that gender inclusion is incorporated into all aspects of library operation. In this presentation we will give specific examples of how our library is using gender inclusive principles to make changes in how we register people for library cards, how we communicate with patrons and staff, how we update forms and contracts, how gender inclusion is reflected in our collections and resources, and finally, how these changes have impacted our community and staff. We look forward to sharing ideas and hearing what others are doing to create gender inclusion opportunities at their library.

From Page to Community: Anoka County's Local Author Connection
Tuesday April 22, 2025 10:15am - 11:15am CDT
The Anoka County Library is dedicated to fostering connections between local authors and readers through our comprehensive Local Author Program. This session will provide an in-depth look at how our library selects and promotes 16 local authors each year, enhancing their visibility and engagement within the community. Participants will learn about our strategic approach to author selection, promotion, and event coordination, and will leave with actionable insights to implement similar programs in their own libraries.
Session Goals:
  • Share best practices and strategies for promoting local authors.
  • Discuss the impact of community engagement on local author success.
  • Provide a framework for libraries to replicate or adapt the Local Author Program to suit their own communities.
  • Foster a dialogue on the importance of supporting local authors within the library ecosystem.
